Last weekend we went to my Dad's retirement party. He worked as a mechanical engineer for the government designing bombs and missiles. All my brothers and sister were able to come down for it.
We started the day off with a flag raising in my Dad's honor. After presenting the flag to him, he took us on a tour of the base. Many of us hadn't been on the base for awhile since you have to have a special badge to enter. My Dad showed us his old buildings and the apartments he lived in when he first moved to Ridgecrest. We also visited our old middle school. Everyone in my family attended Murray so it was fun walking the grounds and reminiscing with each other.

Saturday night was the retirement party. It was really nice. My dad received several awards and plaques. It was fun hearing stories about him and the things he's accomplished working for the base. Most of his projects were top secret so we never knew exactly what he did but we knew it was important. At the end of the program, my brother, Michael presented an antique train bell from a steam train from all the kids and my mom. He loved it!

We are IN Ridgecrest, right now, as I type this.
Today, we stood in front of the museum, looking at the big missils and the planes that are in your pictures. Crazy!
Some of our friends from the 28th ward moved here last month for him to do exactly what your dad did. This all seems too interesting to me!

How fun for you guys! Congrats to your Dad on his retirement! Glad you were all able to get together! It's fun seeing pictures of your family - I have so many fun memories of growing up together there in R/C! :)

What a great time we all had! I'm so glad our kids had another opportunity to play together. They were so cute together on the trains!
